It depends on your current situation and how much control you are willing to cede to those outside of your immediate family. By control, we mean "time & money".

What you earn dictates how you live and where, the schools your kids will attend, as well as how much personal time you can commit to your family and the pursuit of your own interests and dreams.

There are 24 hours in a day, how many of those hours do you want for you and your family? If you are lucky enough to get 8 hours of sleep, need a couple of hours to get yourself ready for work, the kids off to school or daycare, commute to the job, suddenly 10 hours of your day has vanished.

Spend another 9 hours (lunch included) at work, it leaves you 5 hours a day to be a husband, wife, mother or father, manage family & household affairs or do those little things in life that bring you pleasure.
